Visiting a Wonder of the World

How often can one say they have visited a wonder of the world, let alone a new one? Not many, but I was determined to be one of those few who could. Visiting exotic places has been my life for the last 10 years, and the memories I have made have been incredible and life-changing. This next trip would be one for the books. I was heading to The Underground River in Palawan, Philippines.

A wonder of the world

The Underground River is the most significant river underground that is fully capable of being thoroughly navigated. The tour only takes you on a ride for a couple of kilometers, which I immediately jumped on the opportunity to do. The sight was beautiful and awe-inspiring. It dark in the tunnel, but the audio could be heard, and we were able to stay in the boat the entire time. The trip itself was unforgettable.

The Philippines are world-renowned

Not only for their newly labeled natural wonder, a blessing unto itself but also for their hospitality and fantastic food. I felt so welcome, was well-fed and pleasantly exhausted already. I became fast friends with several of the workers at The Underground River and politely asked if we could go back for a second round. The agreed to take me on a private tour, and that was absolutely breathtaking.

The second time was even better

I was so grateful for the chance to have a second tour without all of the other people around. It was breathtaking, even more so than the first time. I was able to take in more of the sights, as it was dusk and not dark so that I couldn’t see anything. My newfound friends were telling me all about the area and the local history. It was a trip that I was so happy I decided to take.

Returned home with plans to go back

I returned home after staying in the Philippines for over two weeks. I spent more Baht than I had brought with me and created memories for a lifetime. I had told my friends that I would return soon, and I wanted to see even more of what their town had to offer as well as more beautiful wonders of nature. In addition to making plans to go back, I am also making plans to visit the other natural wonders of the world, believe me, they are a sight to behold.

Don’t fret, travel and make memories

We all make excuses for why we can’t travel and take those once in a lifetime experiences as they come up. Just do it, figure it out and make it work. It’ll create memories for a lifetime for yourself, your friends and your family. Whomever you take with you or not, experiencing other cultures and visiting beautiful, historical sites in an opportunity everyone needs to do at least once in their life if not more. You won’t regret it, I promise.
